Policies and Reminders

  • Please help your child to attend school regularly and to arrive on time.  Classroom time begins at 8:00 a.m.  We distinguish our Preschool from a daycare or drop-in program and, as such, require regular and on-time attendance.  Children should arrive no later than 8:15 a.m.  Please call or email the school by 8:00 a.m. if you have appointments that would cause your child to be late for school.  Arrivals after 10:00 a.m. will not be accepted unless prearranged with the school.

  • Please see that your child has enough sleep.

  • Give your child time to adjust. Please be patient; some children do not adjust readily to new situations.

  • Make your good-byes brief in the mornings and don’t be alarmed if your child cries.  This is normal behavior, and the teaching staff is experienced and well-equipped to handle such situations.

  • Label all of your child’s belongings.

  • Keep extra clothing in your child’s cubby at all times.

  • If your child must be absent for any reason, please call the Preschool at 594-8916 by 8:00 a.m. on the first day of absence with an explanation for the reason for the absence.

Things That Should Not Be Brought to School
  • Jewelry and other accessories: necklaces, rings, bracelets, watches, sunglasses, and other precious things

  • Toys of any kind and other name-brand products which promote violent characters and characteristics.

  • Hats are allowed only during outdoor play as protection from the harmful effects of the sun.  Hats are not allowed to be worn indoors.

  • Money

  • Balloons

  • Candy, gum, sugary treats, and food in general that promote unhealthy eating habits.

  • Peanut- and all nut-related by-products due to allergies (e.g., peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches, crackers, cookies, etc.)

  • Any item your child would not want lost, taken, or shared with others

Conferences

A parent-teacher conference will be scheduled in October and February. Additional conferences may be scheduled as arranged. School will not be in session in order to accommodate all conferences. A written student report is also given at the end of the school year.

Birthdays and Other Celebrations

Birthday celebrations at MCCP are kept simple to avoid over-stimulation.  We will recognize the birthday student with a song and a special crown.  We do not allow party favors, snacks, balloons, and goodie bags. We also do not allow goodie bags for other special holidays or occasions. We instead encourage the purchase of a hardcover book in celebration of your child's birthday or other special occasions.  The birthday book will memorialize your donation to the school library with a photo and nameplate commemorating the date of your child's birthday.  There is a selection of books in the Office from which you may make your selection for purchase.
